What participants did

  • SWOT board — strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
  • Priority themes — rural character & quality of life; local & waterfront economy; natural resources; community services, infrastructure & housing
  • Vision board — feedback on the draft vision statement
  • Land use maps — reviewed the current land use map and the draft Future Land Use Map (FLUM)

What came out of it

  • Protect water resources, the shoreline, and water quality (cormorants, erosion, regular testing of the Oak Orchard River)
  • Faster, clearer permitting and approvals for small businesses and start-ups
  • Improve community spaces, parks, and roads — including pedestrian and bike space and lower speed limits near Point Breeze
  • More housing options (ADUs, senior housing) without large housing developments
  • Careful management of large-scale development — data centers, STAMP, wind and solar
  • Better communication about Town meetings and projects
